Once the king thought why a portrait of himself should be made. What happened next, painters were called from all over the country and abroad and one by one, great painters came to the king’s court. The king urged them all with folded hands That he should make a very beautiful picture of him which will be installed in the royal palace.
All the painters started thinking that the king is already disabled then how can his picture be made very beautiful, it is not possible and if the picture is not beautiful then the king will get angry and punish. Thinking this, all the painters refused to paint the picture of the king.
Then a painter raised his hand from behind and said, I am very fond of you. I will make a beautiful picture which you will definitely like. Then the painter quickly after taking the king’s permission, he started making the picture.
After a long time, he prepared a picture, seeing which the king was very happy and all the painters bit their fingers. The painter made a picture in which the king is sitting on the ground with one leg folded and with one eye closed, he is aiming at his prey. The king was very pleased to see how cleverly the painter had created a beautiful picture by hiding the king’s weaknesses. The king rewarded him handsomely.
So, why not us too; Hide the shortcomings of others, ignore them and Focus on the good. Nowadays it is seen that people look after each other’s shortcomings. We find out very quickly, no matter how many faults we have in ourselves, but we always pay attention to the faults of others, that a certain person is like this, he is like that.

एक राज्य में एक राजा था जिसकी केवल एक टाँग और एक आँख थी। उस राज्य में सभी लोग खुशहाल थे क्यूंकि राजा बहुत बुद्धिमान और प्रतापी था। एक बार राजा के विचार आया कि क्यों खुद की एक तस्वीर बनवायी जाये। फिर क्या था, देश विदेशों से चित्रकारों को बुलवाया गया और एक से एक बड़े चित्रकार राजा के दरबार में आये। राजा ने उन सभी से हाथ जोड़ कर आग्रह किया कि वो उसकी एक बहुत सुन्दर तस्वीर बनायें जो राजमहल में लगायी जाएगी।
सारे चित्रकार सोचने लगे कि राजा तो पहले से ही विकलांग है फिर उसकी तस्वीर को बहुत सुन्दर कैसे बनाया जा सकता है, ये तो संभव ही नहीं है और अगर तस्वीर सुन्दर नहीं बनी तो राजा गुस्सा होकर दंड देगा। यही सोचकर सारे चित्रकारों ने राजा की तस्वीर बनाने से मना कर दिया।
तभी पीछे से एक चित्रकार ने अपना हाथ खड़ा किया और बोला कि मैं आपकी बहुत सुन्दर तस्वीर बनाऊँगा जो आपको जरूर पसंद आएगी। फिर चित्रकार जल्दी से राजा की आज्ञा लेकर तस्वीर बनाने में जुट गया।
काफी देर बाद उसने एक तस्वीर तैयार की जिसे देखकर राजा बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ और सारे चित्रकारों ने अपने दातों तले उंगली दबा ली। उस चित्रकार ने एक ऐसी तस्वीर बनायीं जिसमें राजा एक टाँग को मोड़कर जमीन पे बैठा है और एक आँख बंद करके अपने शिकार पे निशाना लगा रहा है। राजा ये देखकर बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ कि उस चित्रकार ने राजा की कमजोरियों को छिपा कर कितनी चतुराई से एक सुन्दर तस्वीर बनाई है। राजा ने उसे खूब इनाम दिया।
तो , क्यों ना हम भी; दूसरों की कमियों को छुपाएँ, उन्हें नजरअंदाज करें और अच्छाइयों पर ध्यान दें। आजकल देखा जाता है कि लोग एक दूसरे की कमियाँ बहुत जल्दी ढूंढ लेते हैं चाहें हममें खुद में कितनी भी बुराइयाँ हों लेकिन हम हमेशा दूसरों की बुराइयों पर ही ध्यान देते हैं कि अमुक आदमी ऐसा है, वो वैसा है।
इस कहानी से ये भी शिक्षा मिलती है कि कैसे हमें नकारात्मक परिस्थितियों में भी सकारात्मक सोचना चाहिए और किस तरह हमारी सकारात्मक सोच हमारी समस्यों को हल करती है।
